Margaret Underwood

Margaret Adair UNDERWOOD, daughter of John D. UNDERWOOD, was born about 1821 in PA. On 23 Feb 1843 she married Andrew Hosier, son of Peter HOSIER and Hannah _____in Crow Creek, Bureau Co., IL.

The family must have really needed the money because Andrew was a substitute for a man in Will Co., IL in the Civil War. After Andrew died in 1865 from injuries he suffered in the war, Margaret just moved around and lived with family. Their son George C. Hosier was born handicapped and lived with her until she died. Margaret died 28 Feb 1904. It is not known where she died.

There are 7 known children of Andrew and Margaret.

While the ancestry of Andrew is well researched through the original name of Hoschaar in France, I have little information on Margaret Adair Underwood and many of their children. I would love to hear from anyone who has information on her family. I am also willing to share what ever I have with others interested in this family.
