Surveyed the 8th day of September 1783 for John McKinney 400 acres of land according to the annexed plan situate on the waters of Little Rock House Creek on the Dan River, Guilford County, North Carolina. Beginning at ....... to a grub in Mary Elliott line, thence S to vacant land croping Little Rock House Creek, etc.

Deed book D page 135 dated 26 Jan 1795, John McKinny deeds to James Roach 200 acres of land on both sides of Little Rockhouse Creek. Wit: A. Phillipi and Joseph Sheet.

Deed book E page 222 dated 4 Sep 1797, John McKinny deeds more land to James Roach. "This indenture made 4 Sep 1797, County of Rockingham for consideration of a sum of 80 lbs Virginia currency to him in hand paid by the said James Roach, a certain parcel of land lying on the waters of Little Rockhouse Creek of the Dan River. Beginning at a black oak thence to a hickory, etc., thence East cropping Little Rockhouse Creek 192 poles to a black oak thence North cropping two branches 330 poles to a port oak thence West 192 poles to about Mary Elliot's line thence South on her line on vacant land cropping Little Rockhouse Creek thence 334 poles to the first station. Wit: Andrus Robertson, Abner Overbay, James Fitzgerald. Signed, John McKiny [A pole is equal to one rod in linear measure or about 16 1/2 feet.]

The John McKinney family is not in Rockingham Co. in 1820.
