Peter A. Huffman
Peter A. HUFFMAN was born 5 Mar 1838 in Hunterdon Co., NJ(1). He was the son of Abraham P. HUFFMAN and Elizabeth SHURTS (2). and is found on the 1850 Readington, Hunterdon Co., NJ census with his parents and sister Catherine. The family moved to Bureau Co., IL about 1853. Peter is living on his own in the 1860 census of that county.(3)
He was married to Priscilla Ann HOSIER, daughter of Andrew HOSIER and Margaret Adair UNDERWOOD(4) 5 Aug 1866 in Malden, Bureau Co., IL.(5) They started their married life as a farming couple and their first four children were born there.(6)
They traveled to Story Co., IA about 1872 and made their home.(7) Peter died 2 Nov 1906 in Shipley, Story Co, IA.(8) His funeral was said to have been one of the largest ever held in that vicinity. He is buried in the Nevada Cemetery, Nevada, Story Co., IA.(9)

Little is known about what happened to Peter's father. The spelling of Huffman and Hoffman seems to be used interchangeable so multiple records need to checked. Further research is needed in this area. Additional research is also needed on several of the children. I would love to hear from anyone who has information on this family.

1 - Obituary of Peter Huffman. Although the obit says Henithas Co, census records and the fact there is no Henithas Co makes Hunterdon the better choice
