Mary Elizabeth WALKER was born in Doddsville, Schuyler Co., IL on 7 Jan 1897. (1) She was the daughter of James WALKER and Eda Estella RAPER. Her parents separated before 1900 and she moved with her mother and sister to lived near her Raper grandparents in Taylor Co., IA. (2) Her mother remarried and she was raised with 5 half brothers and sisters. (3) The family moved to Cedar Falls and Mary met Gurney MCBAIN whom she married on 4 Sep 1920 in Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., MN. (4) He was the son of James Elmer SHULTZand Lucy HUTZELL. Mary and Gurney lived in Cedar Falls, Black Hawk Co., IA. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Waterloo, IA (5) and very involved in church activities. After Gurney died 1943 she worked at several jobs including the Vinton School for the Blind and at Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI). She also spent many years as a companion to older women. (6) She died 24 Sep 1986 in Eldora, Hardin Co., IA (7) and is buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Dike, Grundy Co., IA. (8)

- Gurney Kenneth MCBAIN b. 19 Aug 1921 in Black Hawk Co., IA. He was married in 1944. He died Oct 1971. (9)
- Eloise (Lois) Estella McBAIN b. 22 Jul 1924 in Cedar Falls, Black Hawk Co., IA (10) On 13 Jan 1946 she married 1) Albert Lincoln JENSEN.in Cedar Falls, Black Hawk Co., IA. (11) They were divorced 18 Dec 1967 (12) and she remarried 2) William Frank HUME 31 Aug 1971 in Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., IA.(13) She died 4 Jul 1987 in Tampa, Hillsbourgh Co., FL (14) and is buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Dike, Grundy Co., IA (15)
