Michael Hutzel

Michael HUTZEL was b. 25 Mar 1832 in Greenville Twp, Somerset Co., PA. He was the son of Jacob Martin HUTZELL and Susannah SHULTZ. When he was a young man, his family headed west arriving in WI in 1854. Six years later he returned to the state of IN and was married to Catherine GONSER, the daugher of Eli Gonser and Nellie WINKLEPLECK, on 8 Jan 1860 in Clay City, Owen Co. IN. The family moved on to Green Co., WI in 1865 and lived there until 1873 when they moved to IA for four years. In 1876, Michael and Catherine returned to Spring Grove, Green Co., WI where they lived out their lives. Michael d. 11 Jul 1904 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead, Green Co., WI.

  1. Susan HUTZEL b. ca 1861 in WI m. ____MOYER, last known place of residence was Yankton, SD. She died about 1907.

  2. John Henry HUTZEL b. 13 Sep 1862 in Terrehaute, Clay Co., IN. He married Mary Annie (SHULTZ) DAVIS on 26 Nov 1897 in Albany, Green Co., WI. He died 10 Feb 1945 and is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Albany, Green Co., WI

  3. William Harvey HUTZELl b. 12 Jun 1864 in Owen Co., IN. m. 27 Jan 1886 to Mary Louise MINCHAN 27 Jan 1886 Hardin Co., IA. He is buried in Steamboat Rock, Hardin Co., IA.

  4. Lucy HUTZEL b. 10 May 1866 Brodhead, Green, WI. m. 1)James Elmer SHULTZ in Ridott, Stephenson Co., IL on 10 Sep 1881. They were divorced. Married 2) John H. RHODES 9 Sep 1893 in Marshalltown, Marshall Co., IA, and divorced in the same place in 1890. She died 11 Sep 1920 and is buried in Marshalltown.

  5. George M. HUTZEL b. Mar 1867 in WI. Marrried Mary E. HUTZEL.

  6. Eli Alfred HUTZEL b. 20 Aug 1870 in WI. Married Anna STEPHENS 2 Jan 1893 in Juda, Green Co., WI. He died 5 Jul 1915 in Eldora, Hardin Co., IA. He is buried Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead, Green Co., WI.

  7. Daniel (Bert) HUTZEL b. ca 1880 in WI. He was living in Brodhead, WI in 1915.
