SUSANNAH BITTNER

Susannah BITTNER, the daugher of Phillip BITTNER and Catherine GIBLER, was born 9 May 1834 in Somerset Co., PA. She married Benjamin SHULTZ, son of Henry SHULTZ and Catherine HUTZELL about 1854 in Somerset Co. About 1855/6 their family moved west and settled near others of his family in Green Co., WI. About 1874 they moved to Stephenson Co., IL and by 1885 they had moved again to Concord Twp., Hardin Co., IA.

There are 9 children of Benjamin and Susannah.

  1. James Elmer SHULTZ b. 4 Aug 1855 in Somerset Co., PA. He married 1) Lucy HUTZELL on 10 Sep 1881 in Ridott, Stepheson Co., IL. They were divorced in 1893. He married 2)Addie McGOWEN on 7 May 1893 in Marshalltown, Marshall Co., IA. He died in Hubbard, Hardin Co., IA on 27 Apr 1929 and is buried in the Hubbard Cemetery.

  2. Charles Wesley SHULTZ b. 3 Aug 1858 in WI. Married Elizabeth WOLF on 21 Dec 1882 in Juda, Green Co., WI. He died 3 Aug 1882 and is buried in Hubbard, Hardin Co., IA

  3. Emeline (Emma) SHULTZ b. about 1860. Married to _____ CROSBY in Stephenson Co., IL.

  4. Nellie May SHULTZ b. 28 Dec 1865 in Green Co., WI. Never married. Died 6 Nov 1941 in Zearing, Story Co., IA.

  5. Sylvia Eliza SHULTZ b. 29 May 1868 in Green Co., WI. Married Henry SCHRYVER. Died 16 Nov 1956 in Nevada, Story Co., IA.

  6. Emanuel SHULTZ b. 1871 in Green Co., WI. Married Tura Edith Murf WILSON on 22 Mar 1900 in Hubbard, Hardin Co., IA. Was living in Mitchell, SD in 1929.

  7. Nathaniel A. SHULTZ b. 1871 in Green Co., WI. Married Bessie BOVENDER on 27 Dec 1909 in Zearing, Story Co., IA. Was living in Coolemma, NC in 1929.

Susannah married twice more after Benjamin died in 1887 1) A. SINK who died 9 Feb 1891and 2) N. A. HUTSON who also preceeded her in death on 1 Sep 1913. There were no children from these marriages. She died at the Independence State Hospital, Independence, Buchanan Co., IA on 15 May 1916.
